A JOFY Inspired MDF Ink Rack - Funky Flowers in Bloom!

Good morning all!

I am finally getting around to decorating some of the MDF storage dotted around my room, and with my latest ink rack I decided to go 'JOFY'.

The basic rack is from Clevercut (Stamps Away) and came flat-packed. I assembled the rack and then base coated the edges with some pale blue paint. I then took a large sheet of watercolour card and measured 4 panels to size (sides, back and top). Using some Distress Oxides, I started to layer the colour and added some detail with Distress Inks and Tim Holtz Stencils. I also added some subtle painted flowers with a beige colour and a JOFY stencil. Once the background was started, I used a stronger colour (Forest Moss Distress Ink) to stencil some PaperArtsy leafy stems.
Now to add the focal points - the JOFY flowers. I stamped each flower into the position I wanted on my panels. I then stamped parts of them again onto book paper and painted card. After cutting all my pieces out I assembled them and adhered to the backgrounds. Where there were some 'odd' spaces, I stamped some more flowers, leaves or drew in some leaves etc.
On the back panel I painted some card, stamped some more flowers onto this and arranged in one corner. I then used the word 'Bloom' from a JOFY stencil, stencilled in black to create a shadow and then stencilled over it with Fushia Sparkle Medium. To make the paint work 'less perfect' I applied some Silver Alchemy Wax randomly all over the project with my finger.

The only problem is...I need another rack now for all the new colours coming out!

There are Always Flowers...

Good morning crafty people!

It's nearly the end of the holidays and I am relieved! Trying to please 4 children from 13 years old to a 1 year old has been very testing. Combine this with a limited budget and limited use of a car...holiday, anyone? Adults only though please!

Anyway, I have the card below over on the Lisa B. Designs Blog today, please pop over a take a look if you would like to see how it came together (mistakes and all!)

Much love,

A Winter's Scene - Frosted!

A quick post from me today, a card that I had a picture of in my head, but it was not the same picture as what I eventually created!! I started with some very plain background paper (it had a blue wash) and then stamped some of the snowflakes from the Hobby Art Winter's Snowflakes set. I stamped in Tumbled Glass, Denim and Vintage Photo Distress ink, using the first and second generations of ink. I also stamped some snowflakes in Versamark and heat embossed with white detail powder to add some variation and texture. Using the same ink colours, I distressed the outside edges of the paper to bring the eye in. To create the 'land' area at the front of the card, I tore a piece of the same backing paper as before and distressed the top torn edge to make it stand out. I also added a few snowflakes and stamped a sentiment from the Hobby Art Christmas Frosting Set.
Next came the scene arrangement. I die-cut some trees from craft card and added some Vintage Photo highlights. Using the waste as a stencil, I added some trees to the background of my scene giving some depth. The sleigh and the deer are both Sue Wilson dies, both cut using craft card once again with added highlights (I added some cream card on the reverse of the deer).
To add some 'frosting' to my card as my sentiment says, I used my finger to apply some Diamond Sparkle Medium onto the sleigh, trees, ground and deer. There are also a few tiny pearls in the centre of some snowflakes.
Voila!

Back from a Crafty Blogging Break!

It has been a while since I have blogged, I know! There are two reasons for this really: I had my 4th baby in March and prior to that I have been posting each week on the Lisa B. Design's Blog! So, I have been busy, really! Along with all this I have managed to retreat into the crafty nook (otherwise known as my study) occasionally, and have made cards as often as I can! Here are a few things I have played with...

Sheena Douglass Perfect Partners dies and stamps, Distress Inks, Imagination Crafts stencil...

A card with an acetate front, Imagination Crafts Sparkle Medium, Tattered Lace Dies, Just Rite stamps, Spellbinders Dies and a Sue Wilson Border

Various Card-io Stamps, Versafine Inks

Polkadoodles stamps, watercolours, Distress Ink, Card-io stamps

Inkylicious stamps, Memento Inks, Clarity Stamps

I am still part of the Lisa B. Design's Design Team, so I will be posting a new project each week over there, each time explaining the products and methods used. Click HERE to see the blog and regular posts from the team!

Bluebells for Dad!

A little late blogging this card; to be honest I had forgotten that I had made it in between my other projects!
I made this card for my husband on Father's Day. I started with a 7x7 craft card blank from Anne Marie Designs. I have created the main topper using a large square of stamping card and then added layers of ink and stamps. The first layer was added using Pumice Stone and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink lightly across the whole panel. To darken the corners I have added Faded Jeans to the edges. I have then used the 2nd generation of Pumice Stone ink to stamp a script stamp across the whole panel. Using the 3rd generation of ink this time and Versacolour Blue Lagoon ink, I have stamped an Indigoblu flourish randomly across the whole panel as well.
Focusing on the top layers now, I have used the same Indigoblu flourish along the edges of the card, stamped this with Versafine and then heat embossed with gold superfine powder.
The painted bluebells were created with Sheena Douglass' Perfect Partners stamps. I have stamped the leaves with Colorbox Evergreen ink and the flower heads in Versafine Blue Lagoon directly onto the background card. Using inks in the same tones (Bundled Sage and Faded Jeans Distress Ink) this time from a tile, I have 'painted' the bluebell heads and leaves to give the image some substance.
The bluebells at the front of the card have been stamped onto white card and die cut using Sheena's matching Perfect Partners' Dies. I have cut three sets of bluebells and used the same inks as before to colour-in. The sentiment has been cut using Spellbinders Fancy Labels 8 and embossed on the edges with the same gold powder as before. The sentiment itself is from Clarity Stamps.
