Cute and Simple Christmas Patchwork

This month in Lisa Baker's class, we were making small square cards and 'patchworking' the images together. Both the stamps are from Woodware I believe, and have been stamped several times in onto various Christmas papers. We have cut thee pieces all out and then put them back together. Some Stickles to add some glitter etc. and away you go... The different layers and textures are quite 'Scandinavian' once all put together.

Fluffy Penguins!

Here they are again, those little Hobby Art Penguins! They are all rather cute and I have been having fun. All the elements have been made using the Penguins set, including the sentiment. I have silver embossed the background snowflakes and used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink for the icy sky. The red matt layer has faux stitching all around to draw the eye in. The best bit I think though is the Woodware Fluffy Stuff on the hat! When added and heated gently, the stuff expands and then goes hard. You can't help but feel it! I have also used some large icy glitter to add to the frosty feel.

Butterflies and Florals

Here are two more cards made in another of Lisa's classes. The first, to my left, uses a die cut butterfly for the main feature. If you look closely you will also see that the white section to the left has been embossed and then cut around. The white script in the top right has been stamped and embossed with white powder. The card is from Anne Marie Designs and comes in lots of pastel shades.
The same dotty card is used on the card below to create a square frame for a large Woodware floral stamp. The stamp has been stamped and embossed with black powder, then coloured with Promarkers, Certain flowers have also

                                                                                    to match.

Funky Inky Stencils!

Changing the style now, and back to some more craft class makes with Lisa Baker!
These cards were both made using the Imagination Crafts Diamonds stencil and various Distress Ink colours. The card to my left was made by using the stencil on top of a piece of plain card and applying the inks liberally all over. Unbelievably, the large Woodware flowers were then stamped on top of the design and then embossed. At this point we took some household bleach and an old paintbrush and bleached all the areas inside the flowers. Once the bleach was dry the ink in the flowers became very pale. We then used similar Promarker colours to put the colour back into the petals. The sentiment is from Indigoblu's Live, Laugh, Love plate and has been stamped and embossed onto a piece of card coloured lightly with the same colours of ink used previously. To do this I replaced my stencil over the card to align it and find where I wanted to place it. I then placed a piece of card underneath, inked it, removed it and cut it out at funny angles before matting it onto the card. Funky and fun I think!

The card to my right uses the same stencil, but only covers a section of the card.  We then added some random black gesso drips for a modern twist. The flowers are from Indigoblu again and have been stamped, inked using the same colours again, and then 'fussy cut' out. The flowers have then been arranged along the border of the stencil in a flowing motion. We got to keep the stencil, so no doubt it will feature again...!

Paper Weaving and Embossed Tiles

Both of these cards were made in another class with Lisa (there is a theme going on here...) The first to my right, was made using some strips of coordinating papers to create a weaved effect (possibly Tim Holtz papers?). We started by attaching each strip of paper to some adhesive sheets. Then we cut the strips in the opposite direction to the way they were laid, and made them all the same width. On the base card some Distress Inks were used to make some patches with a honeycomb style stencil. These patches were entirely random. The strips were then cut to different lengths and arranged in a pattern on the card front. There were some keys on the patterned paper we used, so these elements were cut out and dotted in any gaps. The final sentiment was stamped in brown ink,embossed with clear powder and matted on some distressed co-ordination card stock. The stamp was from a 'Butterfly Kisses Stamp' set with a collection of male stamps.

The card to my left was made using a floral Woodware stamp (I think!). The image was stamped directly onto the right hand side base card with Versafine black ink. The small coloured panel was made using a combination of 3 bright coloured Distress Inks to colour a piece of white card. The floral stamp and message was then stamped on top of this. The whole panel was then inked with Versamark and embossed 3 times with UTEE to create a shiny tile. I was a bit dubious about the bright colours at first, but once the card came together I really liked the effect!

More Craft Class Makes!

 These two cards were also made at craft classes with Lisa Baker. The one on the right has a main Hobby Art stamp as the jolly snowman and the scarf has been paper pieced with extra sections of the coordinating background papers. The sentiment is set on a snowflake punch, and co-ordinations card makes all the features pop. My favourite bit has to be the 'Fluffy Stuff' from Woodware though; this is applied sparingly (not like me!) and then heated. It magically puffs up and then goes solid. I do like a bit of magic!

This second card has one of the new Cuttlebug dies as the main feature. The die itself is a massive whole section with interlinking snowflakes. This makes a great effect when placed over the aperture as it is here. Some of the snowflakes are also decoupaged with die cut poinsettias for added interest. The card front has been embossed using a Crafts Too folder and the inside of the card has had a silver backing paper placed so it shows through to the front. Those amazing strings of bling are set into a hessian type fabric and can be cut to the size you want - ingenious! They have been layered onto a matching strip of the inside aperture cardstock.

My Favourite Card Made For Christmas!

So, here is my favourite card made for the Christmas period. I have used some beautiful papers from the Craftwork Cards Christmas Post range in the background and layered the card up from there. The sentiment at the bottom is from a Woodware stamp with the main word being SNOW, but it also has some great phases. The gorgeous flourish is from IndigoBlu and has been stamped using distress ink in vintage photo. The rosettes have been made using a Tim Holtz decorative strip die called 'Mini Paper Rosettes'. The corners have been cut with dies from the Lea'bilities range and the rosette tops using a die from Spellbinders Create-A-Flake Three.I don't know why, but I really    like this one!

 

A Little Boy's Card!

This card has been made using a 'Lili of the Valley' stamp which I love! I have been experimenting with colours, but not sure about the purple I have used. I could not seem to find the right combination within my Promarkers... The sentiment is from a Woodware pack of stamps and the webs, spider and stars have been cut using my Cricut (Happy Hauntings and Essentials cartridges). The edging has been done using the darker purple Distress Ink (I always forget names!). I hope it is liked, but I will improve for next time!!

A wizard birthday card for my son



This is a card I made for my son's birthday. I have used stamps from Woodware and also one other that was from my stash (can't remember where it was from!). The images have been coloured with promarkers and Adirondack inks. The numbers and the shapes have been cut using my Cricut (Storybook cartridge). Hope you like it; my son did!
