Tattered Lace with Love

This is a large 8x8 scalloped card, made using just red and  snow-white centura pearl card with roses as accents. The colours have been matted and layered to draw the eye to the centre image. The centre square has been embossed using the Embossilicious Regal Frame folder with some of the swirls accented with small red gems. The dots around the outside are made using liquid pearls. The Tattered Lace Flourish Heart die used has been cut out from the square (it does not stay in the card) and I have replaced it back into the recess using some fine glue. The sentiment to the top left is a stamp from the Just Rite Circle of Love set, which has been embossed with white ultra fine powder. A matching  SpellbindersVintage Labels Three die was used to cut it out. It is hard to see the embossing and the shiny card in the picture - it is quite subtle I admit.

Hobby Art Sunflowers

I have been lucky enough to spend a day crafting with Lisa Baker and enjoyed using the gorgeous Hobby Art Sunflowers stamp collection. When you first look at the set, as with lost of the Hobby Art collection, I don't think you realise its full potential. Once you start using each individual stamp you then start to realise just how much you can do with it!
The first project to the left, is a set of mini wooden frames each with a picture to showcase. The frames were all painted with gesso and once dry, some treasure gold was rubbed over gently with my fingers. This adds a really soft sheen and shows up that lovely irregularity that wood has.
The top frame utilises the scenery element and cleverly adds dimension and perspective by adding the larger sunflowers on the outside of the frame directly on the wood. The second follows this through, coloured with Promarkers and the last one uses the biggest flower head. We also added some hints of sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush pen.

This second project was a really simple, but effective, tag style card. Co-ordinations card has been used to pick out the yellow in the sunflowers and add some layers to the composition. The flower itself was coloured with Promarkers again, and a little tumbled glass was used for definition on the outside of the square. The flower 'tile' was then triple embossed with UTEE.
The card to my left here really surprised me and reminded me of some old techniques which I had somehow stopped using, or forgotten!
Again we have used some lovely co-ordinations card to pick out the main colours used. The main centre piece was first stamped fully with a script style stamp. At this point we then used Versamark ink to stamp a flower on each corner of the card. These were then embossed with clear embossing powder. Doing the project this way around allows you to see the brown script directly against the white paper and creates a really funky effect! Next we took vintage photo distress ink and mustard seed to colour the piece, getting darker towards the outside. The darker ink was then used to stamp the same flower used earlier, on the paper over-lapping the text and the other flowers. As the first ones were embossed, any ink on the flowers could be wiped away! Ingenious!

Our project to my right now, goes back to using a DL size card and composing a panel in any way you like using the lovely stamp collection. The leaves at the front and the large flowers are in the foreground and then the scene behind is stamped with the scenery elements. Promarkers and Wink of Stella feature again, along with some distress ink for the large field areas and the blue sky. The main sunflower heads have also been paper pieced to add some depth.
This final one is a square 6x6 card base made using a kind of sparkly, smooth craft card. The background has been coloured lightly with distress ink and the largest flower head randomly stamped around the outside with vintage photo distress ink. These have been watercoloured to give a softer effect compared to using Promarkers. The additional sentiment panel and the feature flower at the bottom have however been stamped and embossed with black ink and clear embossing powder. The images have been coloured with the Promarkers to show the different effect. The flowers have all been gone over with clear Wink of Stella.

It was a lovely day and I would recommend a craft day with Lisa to anyone!

Lacey Engagement Wishes

This card was my first made using Tattered Lace dies. I matted and layered snow white Centura Pearl and lilac card stock onto an 8x8 blank. The centre piece I die cut twice top and bottom with the Tattered Lace Chantilly Flourish die. I then removed the cut pieces and put the main card section through an A4 Crafts Too embossing folder. The die cuts were then gently glued back into position and a matching piece of ribbon placed across the middle. The Lili of the Valley sentiment has been dry embossed in silver before being cut and mounted using Spellbinder Classic Circles Large and Lacey Circles. All the crossing sections from the embossing folders have had tiny gems added in matching colours, and a random dot/dash pattern has been doodled along the edge to finish it off.

Ooh La La!

This is the card I made for my husband for his birthday. I bought these fabulous Vintage Lingerie stamps from Creative Expressions a while ago, and wanted an excuse to use them! The card size is 8x8" with matted and layered craft card, as well as black and burgundy card. The background paper was made using a stamp reading 'Ooh La La!' over a piece of card distressed with Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo distress ink. The words were randomly stamped in the Vintage Photo, with both first and second generation inks used. The main bodices were all stamped on white card and coloured with Promarkers. The top left has black pearl detail down the middle and a piece of pink lace ruched at the back to create gathers. The top right bodice has had black lace added to the base and top, and I have pierced holes down the centre sewing red baker's twine into a laced pattern. The final bodice has pink lace ruched at the front and a paper rose in the middle. Each bodice has been layered onto embossed craft card and the sentiment I made up and printed from the computer. The final paper rose was from my stash and the co-ordinating corners were cut using Spellbinders D-Lites Corner Flourish dies. The card has loads of texture in real life and although it was fiddly, I am quite pleased with the results.
